An eating disorder may include eating too much or not enough to the degree where it causes a negative effect on one’s physical and mental health. This disorder impacts all aspects of the individual’s life. The most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, which often overlap with each other.
Another disorder which is currently being defined and studied is Binge Eating Disorder (BED). BED occurs when an individual eats large amounts of food in a small amount of time. This behavior is accompanied by a feeling of being out of control and unable to stop eating. The result is often morbid obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
